Certificates Required

  • Certified Australian Death Certificate
  • Embalming Certificate by a qualified licensed embalmer
  • Statutory Declaration of the manner that the casket is sealed, wrapped and prepared for air carriage.
  • Non-Infectious Certificate by a qualified Medical Practitioner or Coroner


Consular Restrictions/Requirements

  • A special permit called a “Mortuary Pass” in German, French or Italian. It includes name, age and marital status, the place, date and cause of death, departure and destination as well as the name of the person accompanying the deceased. 
  • The permit is only issued with a certified extract of Act of decease and certification as to how the body has been coffined. 
  • An Exanthematic Permit will not be issued until 1 year after decease if the cause of death was from plague, cholera, smallpox, or typhus.
